Indian Trail “K” Kids Create Special Greeting Cards & Bookmarks For Mobile Meals Clients

New Frozen Therapeutic Meal Options Now Available From Mobile Meals

 

The purpose of Mobile Meals Inc. is to provide quality meals and nutrition services to individuals of all ages who are at nutritional risk. Mobile Meals is excited to present a new line of specialized frozen therapeutic meals to meet the needs of our clients. Therapeutic frozen meals are now available for those who need a pureed- modified texture. There is also a cardiac diet option available which has modified cholesterol, fat and sodium content. Mobile Meals will work closely with any physician or health care professional to establish what meal options best meet client needs. Our staff includes licensed social workers and registered dietitians, which are trained on how to meet nutritional needs as well as assist with supporting clients in a holistic way through the continuum of care, and link them to additional community support.

Mobile Meals has a variety of nutrition related products and services available to meet an individual’s needs. These services include additional frozen meal options, nutritional supplements, as well as grocery shopping and hot meals. Some products have limited service areas. Nutritional education or counseling is also available. Mobile Meals serves those of all ages and in all economic levels. Subsidized funding may be available for those who qualify.

The bags (300 in total) will be delivered to our clients on Valentine’s Day to add some love and joy to their lives. Mobile Meals Inc. Names New President/CEO

Akron, OH, February 7, 2012

Mobile Meals, Inc. has chosen Lorie M. Travaglino as its new President/CEO. She will succeed Kathleen D. Downing. The agency has faithfully served residents of Northeast Ohio for 41 years.

Ms. Travaglino has an extensive background of dedicated service, including Administrator of the Salvation Army in Toms River, New Jersey and Administrator and Youth Ministries Officer with three Salvation Army Units within New York State. Since 2009, she has served as Director, Community Building and Initiatives with United Way of Greater Stark County. Her employment history has been an excellent preparation for her to guide Mobile Meals into a new era of service to our community. Ms. Travaglino looks forward to further promoting the breadth and scope of Mobile Meals and is committed to stewarding a sense of goodwill among community partners.

Ms. Downing is retiring from her position as President/CEO after leading Mobile Meals for 26 years. Kady, as she is known throughout the community, oversaw the amazing growth of Mobile Meals, Inc. from a volunteer group established by the Summit County Medical Alliance, serving two meals on its first day, to an agency providing more than 3,500 meals and supplements each day to children and adults. Her legacy is an agency that is recognized throughout the region for its professionalism and its willingness to serve.

According to Tom Crookes, Chair of Mobile Meals’ Succession Planning Committee, “We are very excited about the selection of a person with Lorie’s skills, talents and experience to lead Mobile Meals into the future. At the same time, we are grateful for the many years of dedicated service provided by Kady in feeding people throughout Northeast Ohio. Kady’s commitment to our mission enabled our agency to serve our clients for many years.”

Mobile Meals, Inc. is a multi-purpose agency that delivers hot and frozen meals and nutritional supplements to the homes of people of all ages living in Summit, Cuyahoga, Medina, Lorain and Portage counties. A professional staff of 105 is joined by 200 dedicated volunteers to offer clients a service that is economical, efficient and compassionate.

The Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) has a national grant competition wherein the more people that Mobile Meals can contact about the Association and their programs, the better chance Mobile Meals Inc. has in the competition.  Help Mobile Meals spread the word about MOWAA!

Mobile Meals Receives Energy Efficient Lighting Grant

Mobile Meals would like to thank the County of Summit, Russell M. Pry Executive, for providing partial funding through a grant from the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant Program allowing for the installation of energy efficient lighting at our main office (downtown Akron) location. The project is estimated to be completed within the next two weeks(by 12-16-2011). The purpose of this program is to provide federal grant money to local government agencies to help reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions and improve overall energy efficiency. Thompson Electric was the winning bidder for this project.

Mobile Meals Inc. Participates in Taste of Vintage Benefit

Mobile Meals Inc. was a participant in Goodwill Industries’ Sixth (6th) Annual Taste of Vintage benefit held in downtown Akron at Quaker Station on November 17, 2011.

The event featured vintage clothing, silent auctions and cuisine from many participating vendors including Mobile Meals Inc. to benefit Goodwill Industries. Pictured above is one of the delicious and healthy meal options being served during the event by Mobile Meals Inc.

Mobile Meals Receives Electrical Wiring Grant

Mobile Meals Inc. has received funding from the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program to install interior energy efficient lighting at the main office in downtown Akron located at 1063 S. Broadway St. Lighting installation and replacement is estimated to take place between 11/21/11 to 12/19/11.

Mobile Meals Community Education Volunteer Initiative

Mobile Meals Inc. has continued their involvement with a community education volunteer initiative with several local higher education providers including Technical Institutes, Colleges and Universities for volunteer services in exchange for valuable work place experience. The first one of these initiatives was completed on October 18, 2011. Two other projects started the week of November 26th.

Community Education Volunteer Initiative: ITT Technical Institute Partners with Mobile Meals Inc.

Mobile Meals Inc. would like to again thank ITT Technical Institute for supplying student assistance to help with the completion of several projects including phase two of a network wiring project as well as a PC relocation project where students from ITT Technical Institute were paired up with a Mobile Meal staff member to help them relocate their computers to other office locations within the 1063 S Broadway main headquarters to improve overall staff efficiency.

 

ITT Technical Institute students participating in the second network wiring project completed this weekend (12-3-2011) include Bruce Temple, Pablo Andrade, Ronald Klagstad, and Lawrence Kimble. ITT Technical students participating in the PC relocation project this week (week of 11-28-2011) included Pablo Andrade & Lawrence Kimble.  During these projects, students worked with Mobile Meals partners REALTECH Services LLC (Mike Bruce) and MCPC Support (Mike Cronan) to organize, setup and complete project assignments. The projects are estimated to conclude the week of December 5th, 2011. A special thank you to Sara Martin with ITT (Director of Career Services) who has organized all student volunteers for these projects.

Mobile Meals Inc. Wins Award at Senior/Caregiver Expo

Mobile Meals Inc. was an Expo attendee and exhibitor at the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults Senior Caregiver Expo held on Friday November 4, 2011. An estimated 250 seniors and caregivers were in attendance at this event. Mobile Meals Inc. provided information and displayed details to seniors on the fat, sugar and salt content of popular American foods.

Congratulations to Denise Considine (Mobile Meals Community Outreach Coordinator) whose exhibit won 3rd place for best patriotic display at this event. Also, special thanks to all those that attended and voted for the Mobile Meals Inc. exhibit and to Lori Fultz (Activity/Volunteer Coordinator with the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults) of all of her efforts in putting together such a wonderful event.
