    Posted (11/18/2009) -

On September 1st, 2009, the MOWAA Board of Directors approved a new vision and mission for MOWAA: End senior hunger by 2020.

What does that mean? We see it in terms of four main points:

    1. 100% of Client Needs Met
All Senior Nutrition Programs in the U.S. are able to meet the full nutrition needs of their
        current clients.

    2. 100% of Demand Met
No senior in need who requests service from a Senior Nutrition Program is turned away or
        wait-listed.

    3. 100% Coverage
Every senior in need in the U.S. has a program to go to.

    4. 100% Awareness
Every senior in need knows that senior nutrition services are vailable, and knows how to ask
        for help.

For more information about the pledge, click here.

At the 2009 Annual MOWAA Conference in San Diego we announced our "2020 Vision" to the attendees - not only to indicate our commitment to this goal, but to seek the support that we will need to see this vision become a reality. Many of the attendees - fellow MOWAA Members - chose to adopt the goal, personally, by pledging to join us.

We can do this. We need your help.
We wish to extend the invitation to every MOWAA Member to join us in our movement. Will you stand with us and pledge to help end senior hunger by 2020?

"My wife was the reason we initially came into contact with Mobile Meals. She was on service for five years before we both started to get the midday meal. Dealing with a spouse with Alzheimer's is a challenge within itself, but knowing that I did not have to worry about cooking for lunch was a great comfort for me. I have never really cooked in my eighty-five years, and continuing to receive Mobile Meals after my wife's passing has been a true convenience for me. There is a variety of healthful food served, and the staff who prepares it is top of the pile."
