Am I eligible for Mobile Meals?
Mobile Meals provides meals and nutritional supplements to clients of all ages and economic circumstances. We assist children, the elderly, ill, disabled and homebound who are unable to prepare meals, whether for a brief or an extended period. A confidential interview is conducted by a staff member to determine a person’s eligibility.

What kind of meal service do you provide?
Mobile Meals delivers hot and frozen meals. Delivery days are Monday through Friday. In addition to our regular meals, we also provide therapeutic meals for clients with special needs, a budget friendly three compartment (3-comp trays) frozen option and kosher meals for clients who request them for religious reasons. Meals are nutritious, delicious and designed by a professional dietitian.

Do you have nutritional supplements?
Yes, we have a variety of products. These items are for individuals who have special requirements or have certain conditions, such as: a renal diet; a dental condition; difficulty swallowing; failure to thrive symptoms, etc. A physician’s order is needed for these products. Nutritional Supplements can be delivered within the Mobile Meals service area or can be picked up at our 1357 Home Ave (Akron, OH) location.

How do I apply for Mobile Meals?
You, a family member or a caregiver may apply for services. You may apply online or download a form to fax or mail. You may also telephone (800) 852-6325 or (330) 376-7717. A case manager will speak with you to ask your name, address, health status, etc., explain our services, determine your eligibility and confirm the type of service needed and the appropriate meal plan. All information remains confidential.

How long does it take to get on the meal service?
Once we receive all the information needed, we can begin meals within two or three days. A therapeutic meal requires a physician’s order.

Can I try the meals to see if I like them?
Yes. You can order the meals for any time period you want. We do ask that you give us a two-day notice if you want to cancel the meals.

I have a medical condition that requires a special diet, can you accommodate me?
We can accommodate special diets, such as:

    • Pureed (Modified Texture)
    • Cardiac (Modified Cholesterol, Fat and Sodium Content)
    • Renal (Restricted Sodium and Potassium)
  • Note: All diets are monitored by a registered dietitian and Therapeutic meals require a physician’s order.

    What is the cost?
    A number of private and government programs are available to assist you in paying for your meals or supplements. Veterans may be eligible to have their meals paid for by the Veterans Services Commission. Costs of meals may also be subsidized for certain eligible clients 60 years of age or above. Nutritional supplements vary in cost by type and supplier. Mobile Meals is able to submit a request for payment of nutritional supplements if you are receiving Medicaid. Our knowledgeable staff is happy to assist you in determining your qualification for Mobile Meals services.

    The regular cost of Hot Meals is $7.25, The regular cost of Complete Frozen Meals is $7.25, Therapeutic and Kosher meals costs vary between $8.95 and $9.33, and our 3-Compartment Budget Friendly Frozen meals cost is $3.25. Prices stated above are for full price clients not receiving funding assistance. Mobile Meals pricing is subject to change at our discretion.

    How do I pay for the meal? Do I pay the driver?
    You will receive a monthly invoice mailed to you. You do not pay the driver. If a program, such as PASSPORT, is paying for your meals, you will not receive a bill.

    Can a family member pick-up my meals/supplements?
    Hot Meals will either be delivered to your home or at one of our dining/outreach centers. Frozen meals and supplements can be picked up at our office at 1357 Home Ave (Akron, OH) or delivered to your home*. If you call ahead, we can have your product read for pickup.

    Can I have the bill sent to a different address, such as a family member?
    Yes, you can. If a person would like to set up meals for a family member, we can bill to any person specified.

    Can I have literature mailed to me?
    Absolutely. Just call Mobile Meals and we will be happy to send you brochures and menus.

    Do I have to live alone to receive Mobile Meals?
    Not necessarily. Each case is reviewed on an individual basis. In some cases, the primary caregiver may be employed or unable to assist with meals because of their health issues.

    I have difficulty carrying things. Can the drivers bring my meals inside?
    Our drivers can bring the meals in and leave them on the table or put them in your refrigerator or freezer. You may also accept the meals at the door.

    Can the drivers leave my meals if I have to go out?
    Unfortunately, this is not possible. Part of our service is to see each client at every delivery. We want to confirm that they are safe on a daily basis. We also do not want to risk food borne illness by leaving meals out without knowing when they will be refrigerated or consumed. We can accommodate arrangements to leave meals with a neighbor. If you know that you will not be home, we ask that you give us a two-day notice.

    What time will my meals arrive?
    Typically, hot meals are delivered between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm. Frozen meals may be delivered earlier or later in the day.

    Can I suspend meals for a couple of days without being cancelled from the program?
    Yes. Please call two days in advance. If you want meals held for more than three days, you will need to contact us two days in advance to resume service.

    How long can I receive Mobile Meals?
    There is no specified time limit. You can receive meals for short periods during recovery from illness or for an extended period of time. You determine how long you need our services.

    Are there dining centers where I can eat with others?
    Yes, there are a number of Mobile Meals dining centers in Summit County which provide Hot Meals to registered clients. Additionally, Meals in Motion in Portage County also offers these services.

    Yes, we are happy to provide a speaker.

    Can I volunteer for Mobile Meals?
